ABOUT US

Our Mission and Creed

Believing in the Filipino creative talent, a free gift from the Almighty God, we will continue to develop and produce products that are creative, innovative, of world class quality and globally competitive that will provide jobs to the hands of a good number of marginalized Filipinos.

As craftsmen of a vanishing craft (handmade paper making), we will continue to encourage and promote the use of handmade paper that will ensure its continued existence into the new Millennium.

Our Commitment

Reach out and give a helping hand to the marginalized poor in the rural areas. Our products create jobs, as the poor urban and rural communities in the Philippines handcraft them. We support sustainable development in the provincial areas.

We are environment friendly as we only use pure abaca pulp in making our handmade paper, free from tree cutting and logging.

Our Company

Marianka Crafts was founded and established by Ms. Nina Batto Ganal in 1994. It was an inspiration brought about by the yearly bazaar that a Catholic Covenanted Christian Community (Ang Ligaya ng Panginoon Community) in Manila, Philippines holds every year to help the poor members of our Community. Nina being a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology (Cum Laude) graduate from St. Paul College, Manila (now St. Paul University, Manila) and holder of a Master of Science in Guidance and Counseling from the De La Salle University in Manila, has a soft heart for the poor. She was reared by a loving and caring mother, the late Guillerma Laguatan Batto, the former Assistant Secretary and Bureau Director of the Department of Social Work of the Philippine Government, to be aware and concerned with the welfare and needs of the poor sector of our society. To be of service to the poor has always been the dream of Nina from her childhood, as she very well understood their conditions and plight.

From its humble beginnings of making products using the ordinary materials one finds in the home for give away to friends on Christmas and other occasions, it has expanded in making gift packaging, wine bags and holders, journals, note cards, recipe boxes, gift wrappers, picture frames, photo albums, scrapbooks, tags, greeting cards, boxes, invitation kits, card kits, Christmas décor and now into luminaries...

We are an export oriented Company. Our products have been exported to many countries in Europe, Japan and the United States since 1994 to the present.

As part of our commitment of providing jobs to the less fortunate countrymen in the rural areas, we developed their skills and train them to produced world-class products that we have developed for our clientele. By buying our products, you have given support, not through alms giving to the poor, but by job generation it create. In this way you have raised the dignity of the poor member of our society because they know now that they worked for it and earned the money through their hard work and therefore deserved it.

We have been active participant in the Manila Fame International Market Week held in Manila, Philippines every April and October since 1994 to the present.

We welcome your creativity and if you have great ideas on how we can further improve the design for you, we encourage you to tell us and work with us to make it a truly memorable one.
